At Safety Net Sanctuary, we proudly serve as the designated Animal Control partner for multiple municipalities across Berks County. When stray dogs are found in these communities, they are brought directly to our sanctuary—often scared, confused, and in need of immediate care.
Our role is simple, but vital:
Provide a safe place to land for every lost or abandoned animal until their future is certain.
Stray Hold Period
Each animal is given a 48-hour holding period to allow time for their owner to come forward.
We scan for microchips, check local lost dog reports, and post to community pages.
Medical Evaluation
If unclaimed, the animal is fully vetted—vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and medically assessed.
Behavioral Support
Our team gently works with each animal to assess temperament and readiness for adoption.
Adoption Placement
Once cleared, these once-forgotten animals are listed for adoption and matched with loving families.
We conduct a home inspection and require that all other family pets be spayed or neutered, and up to date on all vaccines.
1. Adopt one of our incredible animals looking for a forever home.
2. Sponsor a stray’s vetting and care during their hold period.
3. Share our posts and help reunite dogs with their owners.
4. Donate to support our growing costs as intake increases across the county.
